A collection of Canadian short stories

While some of the writing has to be judged to be somewhat better than others, simply because there are prizes, in my view all of the entries were worthy of merit. I am sure that we will see many of these writers in print before long and I look forward to being captured by their creativity and imagination. - Mike Martin, a long time freelance writer and author of the Sgt. Windflower Mystery Series.

As a writer of historical crime novels, I suggest that even if your main goal is to write about the present, you should have a few goes at the past, and the first winner presented a vision of the past which was historically accurate. (We checked the details of Malmsey in the 18th century.) - Sean Haldane, author of 'The Devil's making' and winner of the 2014 Crime Writers of Canada Arthur Ellis Award for Best Crime Novel.

Once again I have had the privilege of being one of the shortlist judges for the Canadian Tales Short Story Writing Contest. As always, this eclectic collection of thirteen Canadian stories will have a little something for everyone. It is my hope that the readers of this anthology will enjoy these stories just as much as I did. - David Korinetz, owner of Red Tuque Books, and author of the 'Chronicles of the Daemon Knights' fantasy series.
